Interview with the Director of Alveus, Simona Celestina: "I am part of Alveus because of its high moral values, which align with my own"

We spoke with Simona Celestina, the director of Alveus, at the company's headquarters in Slovenia. Ms. Simona joined the company 8 years ago because of its philosophy and high moral values, which aligned with her own: "Alveus is a brand owned by the company Kovinoplastika Lož, which creates top-quality products and is committed to sustainability, innovation, and respect for nature. Our products are the best choice because they combine quality, functionality, and aesthetics, and are designed for long-term use, which means less environmental impact."

Simona, the modern kitchen is becoming a space for personal expression. How does Alveus respond to the trend of personalization?

At Alveus, we place great emphasis on personalization. Our users can choose from various materials, colors, and finishes, allowing them to tailor their kitchen to their personal preferences. Our BLACK EDITION line and the Monarch versions offer bold and unique options that bring character to any space. For us, every kitchen must reflect the individuality and identity of the person. Everyone can connect with the kitchen sink they choose.

The BLACK EDITION line and the bold colors of the Monarch collection particularly stand out. What trends are you noticing among your users?

Customers are increasingly opting for bolder choices, especially in kitchens.

They are now more willing to experiment with colors and different materials—something that wasn’t as common a few years ago. The BLACK EDITION and Monarch lines were created precisely for those who want something unique and special in their kitchen. A kitchen sink and faucet can completely change the look of the space. When combined with cabinet handles, the overall impression of the kitchen can be completely transformed.

The kitchen sink, once solely a functional element, is now becoming the aesthetic and working centerpiece of the kitchen. Do you agree?

The sink has always been a key kitchen element, but it has become the central working zone in recent years. Today, it’s no longer just a place for washing—with additions like work surfaces, shelves, and built-in functional elements, it transforms into a practical workstation. At Alveus, we ensure that our sinks are functional and offer aesthetic and practical solutions for modern kitchens.

Which kitchen trends surprise you the most?

One of the biggest surprises is the technologies that enable smart kitchens. Digital solutions, such as smart devices controlled via apps, have become essential to modern kitchens. We also notice that kitchens are increasingly becoming social spaces, not just places for cooking. Living rooms were the main gathering spots in the past, but today, that role is shifting to the kitchen—a space where people cook, socialize, and spend time with family and friends.

Which materials have the greatest future potential?

Stainless steel (inox), which is highly durable, easy to maintain, and 100% recyclable, will continue to be one of the most sought-after materials. Increasing attention is also being given to sustainable materials, such as recycled and eco-friendly options, as well as composite materials that combine aesthetics and functionality while offering the look and feel of natural stone.

What do you think the kitchen of the future will look like?

The kitchen will become the central hub of the home. What was once an isolated space used solely for cooking will evolve into a hyper-connected, multifunctional area—possibly even the largest room in the house—used by the family for work and leisure. Its design will harmonize aesthetics, functionality, and comfort, contributing to overall well-being.

Connectivity with smart home systems will become standard, enabling kitchen elements to link with smart screens and recipe or cooking instruction databases. In addition, kitchen design will become even more personalized, offering a wider range of colors and materials to match the rest of the interior. Future kitchens will also feature professional-grade equipment because we all want to become “master chefs” in our homes.

What does your kitchen look like?

My kitchen blends simplicity and modern design, with elements that remind us of tradition. It’s minimalist, free of unnecessary details, and easy to maintain. I enjoy trying new recipes and innovative approaches to cooking, but I always respect local ingredients. I believe in the power of simple, high-quality ingredients.

My kitchen is not just a place for preparing meals but also a space for family gatherings. I love cooking for the extended family because I believe sharing meals is a true form of connection. It’s a place where not only food is shared, but memories are created—where laughter and conversation accompany every bite.

Which Alveus product would you choose for your kitchen and why?

I would choose our Monarch line. We designed these sinks focusing on modern kitchens, especially in luxurious shades that allow for real personalization of the space.

Beyond aesthetics, Monarch sinks offer functional advantages—they are easy to maintain and built for long-term use. Alveus is a pioneer in developing this technology in kitchen elements. With over 15 years of experience and continuous improvements, we’ve satisfied thousands of customers.

Alveus’s factory is located near Lake Cerknica and the Križna Cave—the unique natural wonders of Slovenia. How does that proximity influence the company’s philosophy?

Being near such stunning natural phenomena is a daily reminder of our responsibility toward the environment. We are fully aware that we are guests in this delicate ecosystem, and we strive to ensure that our production process has minimal impact on nature. Sustainable solutions are at the heart of our business.

Sustainability at Alveus is not just a marketing term. How do you implement it in practice?

At Alveus, sustainability is a way of life. Our products are made from stainless steel, which is 100% recyclable. We have our own water treatment plant to ensure that only clean water is returned to the environment. We’ve also reduced the use of plastic in our packaging and are increasingly switching to cardboard packaging that is easy to recycle.

What does responsibility toward nature mean to you personally?

I believe each of us is responsible for leaving the world better than we found it. Alveus understands that success is connected to the planet's health, so we are constantly seeking environmentally friendly and ethical alternatives.
